Broadway musicals on Bruce Lee, Nelson Mandela planned

Broadway producers are planning to stage one musical each about late martial arts star Bruce Lee and former South African President Nelson Mandela.

London, May 22 : Broadway producers are planning to stage one musical each about late martial arts star Bruce Lee and former South African President Nelson Mandela.

The musical 'Bruce Lee: Journey to the West', set for 2010 or 2011, would show how the action star rose to fame.

It will include martial arts, Chinese opera, modern dance and pop music as Lee's character struggles to master his skills and forge a link to unite East and West.

An actor to play the lead in the musical has yet to be chosen, reports the BBC.

Another musical about South Africa's struggle for freedom from apartheid, partly based on a forthcoming memoir by Mandela's daughter Zindzi, is expected to be staged in May 2010.

Besides showing historical events, the musical will also feature Zindzi's account on how she grew up in the apartheid era with her father in jail.
