Kathmandu, May 21 : The valley shutdown called by relatives of Ramhari Shrestha, who was killed by the Maoist in Peoples' Liberation Army (PLA) in captivity has affected the normal life and business activities in Kathmandu.
According to Nepalnews, few vehicles are plying in the streets while shops in major market areas remain closed.
The shutdown has been supported by the Nepali Congress (NC), Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) and the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF).
According to Gyan Kumar Shrestha, the brother of Ramhari and coordinator of the struggle committee, there is a demand for the immediate formation of a high level commission, action against guilty and a public apology by the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) chairman Prachanda.
Ramhari Shrestha, a resident of Koteshwore and a sympathiser of Maoists, had been killed after he was abducted on charge of being involved in theft of Rs 1.7 million from Maoist workers who used to stay in rented apartment at his residence.
