Kuala Lumpur, May 21 : Bukit Gelugor MP and HINDRAF lawyer Karpal Singh received a death threat with a live bullet enclosed on Tuesday afternoon.
The death threat and bullet, sent in a yellow envelope, were hand delivered to the DAP chairman's office by a man at about 12.30 p.m., The Star reported.
Singh lodged a police report at the Dang Wangi police headquarters and handed over the bullet and letter to the police. Police have confirmed it was a 9mm live bullet.
When met, Karpal Singh said the man, wearing a full-faced visor helmet, left the envelope and letter with his receptionist and left hurriedly.
Singh said the note warned him not to question Malay rights and the sultans' constitutional powers.
It read as follows: "Don't try to question Malay rights. Don't try to question the sultans' constitutional powers. If you don't stop, the bullet will be lodged in your forehead. Don't forget, this is the first warning."
