Islamabad, May 20 : The Pakistan People's Party Tuesday dispatched a draft of the Constitutional package to the Aiwan-e-Sadr, the official residence of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, for his review and approval.
The draft will also be dispatched to the chiefs of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Awami National Party, which form the ruling coalition, The News quoted a source, as saying.
Federal Law Minister Farooq H. Naek had already announced on Monday that the Constitutional package had been finalized which, he said, may be tabled in the Parliament before the presentation of the federal budget.
The package is expected to include the modus operandi for re-instatement and removal of judges and may also redefine the president's powers through the introduction of 18th Amendment in the Constitution.
Naek said the Constitutional package contained a number of proposals.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Bar Council (SBC) has warned that all lawyers will surround Parliament House and stage a sit down outside it in case the government fails to restore the judges who were sacked on November 3, 2007 by President General Pervez Musharraf.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Supreme Court Bar Council lawyers said they would not accept a Constitutional package that curtails the tenure of the chief justice.
The President of the Karachi Bar Association and member of the Supreme Court Bar Council, Mehmood-ul-Hasan, said there was no room for further talks.
"There is only one Chief Justice of the country and he is Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry," he said.
