Kathmandu, May 2 : Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) politburo member Sitaram Yechury, who is on a two-day visit to Nepal, has expressed hope that the people's mandate would be respected while the formation of the new government in the country.

Yechury, who is said to have played an important role in bringing the Maoists to the mainstream politics, met Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, Communist Party of Nepal-Maoists (CPN-M) chairman Prachanda and Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.

"The issue (of forming government) is up to the political leaders of Nepal. We only hope that people's mandate will be respected," he said.

After meeting CPN-M and CPN-UML leaders, Yechury told reporters that he is confident that the prevailing problem with regard to government formation in the Himalayan Kingdom would also be resolved "like all other problems that were resolved in the past."

He went on to say that agenda behind his present visit was to congratulate Nepali people and leaders for the successful holding of election, nepalnews.com reported.
