Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday directed the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Supplies Corporation (PASSCO) to immediately arrange for the supply of 100,000 tons of wheat for the people of Balochistan, which is regarded as the countrys largest and most underdeveloped province.

Islamabad, May 2 : Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday directed the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Supplies Corporation (PASSCO) to immediately arrange for the supply of 100,000 tons of wheat for the people of Balochistan, which is regarded as the country's largest and most underdeveloped province.

The announcement was made after his first interaction with the Balochistan Cabinet in Quetta.

Gilani said the government was fully aware of the problems of the province on the food front, and informed that he had directed the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to set up a task force to address the issue on a priority basis.

Gilani said that Punjab Province would also provide 50,000 tons of wheat to Balochistan and would purchase another 300,000 tons for the province.

He also ordered both the provincial and federal governments to withdraw all cases against Baluchistan National Party President, Sardar Akhter Mengal, and said that an All Parties Conference would be convened to resolve the issues of Balochistan.

The missing persons cases would be addressed while development projects for the people of Balochistan would be taken with their consultation, he told the cabinet.
