Three cops, based in Barking and Dagenham, took a prisoner on a jaunt out to have sex with his wife as his reward for confessing his crimes.
London, May 2 : Three cops, based in Barking and Dagenham, took a prisoner on a jaunt out to have sex with his wife as his reward for confessing his crimes.
The prisoner, who was accused of battering his wife, was released for a day despite being on remand.
Anti-corruption cops, who were keeping an eye on the three policemen, bugged an unmarked car used for the trip to the prisoner's Essex home .
They swooped to arrest two detective constables aged 48 and 28, and a PC, 41, after dropped back the prisoner at Chelmsford jail.
The jail inmate's confessions would have boosted the Met's pitiful clear-up rate - but he would not have served extra time since the court would have simply taken the crimes into consideration.
The suspended cops were released on bail after being interrogated on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
"There is a lot of pressure to get detection rates up. But we will not accept any cheating," The Sun quoted a senior Met source, as saying.
