The Indian Air Force (IAF) flight carrying a second consignment of 30 tonnes of relief supplies for the quake-affected people of China left from here today.

Chandigarh, May 19 : The Indian Air Force (IAF) flight carrying a second consignment of 30 tonnes of relief supplies for the quake-affected people of China left from here today.

Another IL-76 will ferry relief material from Kanpur, which includes sleeping bags, wheelchairs, stretchers, cranes and winches to be used in getting to people trapped under the debris.

The first relief flight (IL-76 aircraft) was undertaken by the IAF's 25 Squadron and commanded by Group Captain Xavier.

The IL-76 aircraft carried tents, machines, blankets, water purifiers, generators and other relief material to the Sichuan capital Chengdu on Saturday returned to 12 Wing base at Chandigarh on Saturday night.

The aid is part of a five million dollars package approved by the Ministry of External Affairs. (ANI
