India dispatches more relief to quake-hit China

India dispatched another planeload of relief to earthquake-hit China today.

Kanpur, May 19 : India dispatched another planeload of relief to earthquake-hit China today.

"On receiving the order to dispatch relief to China, we are sending some tents, blankets and sleeping bags, which would be of immediate help to the quake-hit people," said, Raj Chhillar, Commandant of Component Overhaul Division (COD) Kanpur.

Earlier in the day, the Indian Air Force (IAF) flight carrying a second consignment of 30 tonnes of relief supplies left from Chandigarh.

The first relief flight (IL-76 aircraft) was undertaken by the IAF's 25 Squadron and commanded by Group Captain Xavier.

The IL-76 aircraft carried tents, machines, blankets, water purifiers, generators and other relief material to the Sichuan capital Chengdu on Saturday returned to 12 Wing base at Chandigarh on Saturday night.

The aid is part of a five million dollars package approved by the Ministry of External Affairs.
