Refuting the speculations that President Pervez Musharrafs camp was working on minus-one formula of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has declared that political parties would not become hostage to Musharrafs wishes.
Islamabad, May 18 : Refuting the speculations that President Pervez Musharraf's camp was working on minus-one formula of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has declared that political parties would not become hostage to Musharraf's wishes.
He said whatever the President wish does not necessarily have to be fulfilled adding that the President had desired a political system minus Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif but their political parties were now a part of the system. It is not necessary that all his desires are fulfilled.
"We are adhering to the Charter of Democracy and we are committed to it," he said while traveling to Egyptian sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh where he is scheduled to attend a 45-minute bilateral meeting with the US President George W. Bush today.
"We all want the judges to be restored. The disagreement is only on implementation or the modality," the News quoted him, as saying.
On the future of the Pakistan People's Party-Pakistan Muslim League-(Nawaz) coalition he asserted that they had excellent relationship with the PML-N and the top leadership of the two parties was in regular touch with each.
He asserted that the PML-N would rejoin the cabinet soon after the piece of legislation to restore the judges was firmed up adding that judges would be restored and that both the major coalition partners will complete their tenure.
He said he had no idea that Salman Taseer's appointment for the post of Punjab Governor would evoke bitter reaction from the PML-N leaders. Taseer's name was eventually accepted by the President.
