US ambassador in Islamabad, Anne Patterson has reportedly said that Washington was ready to extend financial assistance to Pakistan government for the implementation of its judicial reforms, including setting up of new night courts.
Islamabad, May 17 : US ambassador in Islamabad, Anne Patterson has reportedly said that Washington was ready to extend financial assistance to Pakistan government for the implementation of its judicial reforms, including setting up of new night courts.
During a meeting with Law Minister Farooq Naek and Patterson, Patterson showed interest in the idea of night courts and the public defender office proposed by the Law Ministry as part of the reforms, the Daily Times quoted a press release as saying.
"She was pleased to learn that family courts were [being set up] to ensure speedy disposal of women's cases," added the press release.
During the meeting, Naek and Patterson also discussed how terrorism could be dealt with, and the plight of prisoners in various jails in Pakistan.
