Islamabad Bar says Zardari-Musharraf nexus obstructing restoration of judges

PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari is impeding the reinstatement of the deposed judges by joining hands with President Musharraf, said Riasat Ali Azad, General Secretary of the Islamabad Bar Association.

Islamabad, May 17 : PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari is impeding the reinstatement of the deposed judges by joining hands with President Musharraf, said Riasat Ali Azad, General Secretary of the Islamabad Bar Association.

He was addressing a welcome ceremony held here on Friday in honour of the lawyers caravan, which arrived here from Lahore after traveling for nine days.

Azad warned that the integrity of the country would be put at stake if the lawyers failed in the movement for the restoration of judges. No society can exist without an independent judiciary, he asserted.

Azad held that the lawyers were working for the rule of law and the independence of judiciary.

He claimed that the movement of lawyers would culminate in the reinstatement of the judges.
