The ashes of Indian peace activist Nirmala Deshpande will be immersed in the Indus River near Sukkur on Saturday.

Karachi, May 15 : The ashes of Indian peace activist Nirmala Deshpande will be immersed in the Indus River near Sukkur on Saturday.

According to the Dawn, a Pakistan peace coalition delegation carrying the ashes will leave Karachi on Saturday morning for Sadhu Belo in Sukkur where the ashes will be immersed at 7pm.

The Gandhian leader and apostle of peace had died in New Delhi on May 1.

It was her wish to have a part of her ashes immersed in the Sindhu Nadi (Indus River) as a mark of her love for the people of Pakistan and her commitment to lasting peace between India and Pakistan.

Her ashes have already been immersed in various rivers in India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
