If you want to believe in the green man from Mars, well then thats now OK with the Catholic Church.
Melbourne, May 14 : If you want to believe in the green man from Mars, well then that's now OK with the Catholic Church.
And, the permission comes straight from the pope's chief astronomer.
Jose Gabriel Funes, in an interview with the Vatican mouthpiece, the Osservatore Romano, also said that there was nothing wrong with Catholics seeking out extraterrestrial life.
"As an astronomer I continue to believe that God is the creator of the universe," the Daily Telegraph quoted him, as saying.
"Just as there are a plethora of creatures on Earth, there could be others, equally intelligent, created by God," he said.
Funes, a Jesuit priest, also says that aliens may be better than humans as they may be free of sin.
"If other intelligent beings exist, it's not certain that they need redemption," he said.
He adds that alien beings could "have remained in full friendship with their creator".
