A China dinner set used by Hitlers bodyguard is set to go under the hammer.
Washington, May 14 : A China dinner set used by Hitler's bodyguard is set to go under the hammer.
The dinner set used by Hitler's bodyguard on transatlantic crossings in the 1930s is expected to rake in 1,000 pounds.
The plates have the letters LAH, for Leibstand arte-SS Adolf Hitler, engraved on it.
Leibstand arte-SS Adolf Hitler was the Nazi dictator's most trusted bodyguard unit.
The guards used to travel incognito on the Hamburg-America Line to protect ships from hijack, using the dinner set only in their own quarters.
"They turned up just a few miles from here and the vendor has no idea how he came by them," Times Online quoted Andrew Aldridge, the auctioneer, as saying.
It will be sold at an auction in Devizes, Wiltshire, on May 17.
