500-year-old crystal skull stolen

A treasured large crystal skull believed to be 500 years old has been stolen from its perch at Kindred Spirits, a New Age store in Claremont, California.

Washington, May 13 : A treasured large crystal skull believed to be 500 years old has been stolen from its perch at Kindred Spirits, a New Age store in Claremont, California.

Persis Newland, owner of Kindred Spirits, reported the missing skull to police about two weeks ago but no one has managed to crack the case yet.

The skull was seated on an altar in the store's classroom area and was considered one of the shop's prized objects.

"He was on an altar, and he just enjoyed being here," E!Online quoted employee Kristen Nestor, as saying.

Newland believes the theft must be related to the mega hyped Indiana Jones film, whose plot is inspired in part by an ancient Mayan legend concerning 13 crystal skulls that, all together, have the power to save the Earth.

"Someone must have thought about it in that term, connected with the movie or something. I have no idea why someone would take that and not the other things that are equally valuable on the altar," Newland said.
