Islamabad, May 12 : The US embassy in Islamabad has said that the restoration of judges' issue was to be resolved by the Pakistan government only and that the US administration had nothing to with it. And, that's why US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher didn't discuss the issue with PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif when he met the duo in London recently, said US Embassy spokeswoman Elizabeth Colton said in a statement.
She also said that US' interests in Pakistan were to support Islamabad in its common struggle against the Taliban and Al Qaeda.
"The restoration of judges is Pakistan's issue to solve. It is not for the US to prescribe solutions. These meetings were part of Boucher's regular interactions with a wide range of Pakistani political leaders," the Daily Times quoted her as saying.
The US was interested in a peaceful transition towards democracy in Pakistan, she said and added: "Our interest is in supporting Pakistan's democratic transition and continuing our common struggle against the Taliban and Al Qaeda."
Colton further clarified that Boucher had stopped over in London to consult with his UK Foreign Office counterparts while en-route from Bangladesh to Washington.
