Asif-Nawaz meeting today to thrash out conflicting issues

PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif are meeting today to discuss formation of a coalition government and work out a strategy for reinstatement of deposed judges, an issue on which their parties have different points of view.

Lahore, Mar 8 : PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif are meeting today to discuss formation of a coalition government and work out a strategy for reinstatement of deposed judges, an issue on which their parties have different points of view.

The two leaders may also discuss the proposed coalition's ties with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, which is another subject on which the two parties are said to be having conflicting opinions, reported the Daily Times.

The Nawaz-Zardari meeting was slated for yesterday, but was delayed by a day for reasons not disclosed.

After the crucial meeting, a meeting of the provincial parliamentary parties of the PPP and the PML-N will also be held in Lahore. Thereafter, PML-N president and Nawaz's younger brother Shahbaz Sharif will host a dinner for the MNAs-elect of the two parties and those who have announced their support for them.

A PPP leader said that Zardari and Sharif were in a position to take a decision on the issue of judges and policy towards having future ties with President Musharraf. Once they settled the matter, constitutional and political experts of the two parties would work out the remaining details.
