No differences within PPP over PMs nomination: Sherry Rehman

Pakistan Peoples Party leader Sherry Rehman, considered close to the Bhutto family, has said that there were no differences within the party over nomination of new prime minister. She said that the name would be announced after the summoning of the National Assembly session.

Islamabad, Mar 7 : Pakistan Peoples Party leader Sherry Rehman, considered close to the Bhutto family, has said that there were no differences within the party over nomination of new prime minister. She said that the name would be announced after the summoning of the National Assembly session.

She said that the new candidate for the PM post will be finalised through a proper consultative process.

"There are no differences, whatsoever, over the nomination of a candidate for the PM office in the party. The name will be finalised through a consultative process that is part of the democratic process. The party is within its rights to announce the name at the appropriate time. The name will be announced after the summoning of the National Assembly session," the Daily Times quoted her as saying.

The party's central information secretary said that the PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari would start meetings with the MNAs-elect from today, because he wanted to take all members into confidence before formally announcing the name for country's top slot.

Meanwhile, Yousaf Raza Gilani, PPP senior vice chairman and one of the four prime ministerial candidates of the party, has ruled out differences with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), the would-be coalition partners in the new government.

"There are no differences or disagreements between the two parties on the basic issues. However, there might be different point of view over the methodology of working for the achievement of objectives, since the parties have their own manifestos and ideologies," he said.
