Police have detained eight alleged militants for Tuesdays serial blasts at Lahores Navy War College.
Lahore, Mar.5 : Police have detained eight alleged militants for Tuesday's serial blasts at Lahore's Navy War College.
Members of several outlawed militant organizations were detained in separate raids hours after Tuesday's bombing, said Chaudhry Masood Aziz, the chief of the Lahore Police anti-terrorism unit.
According to the Dawn, the militants were picked up to identify the bombers or people involved in the attack.
None of them was a suspect, Aziz said.
Meanwhile, DNA tests are being carried out on the heads of the two suspected bombers that were recovered from the blast site to establish their identity.
The Dawn quoted Tassaduq Hussain, the chief investigator of Lahore Police, as saying that parts of a motorcycle, believed to have been used by the attackers, its chassis and engine numbers have been recovered and police will try to find who owned it.
The death toll in Tuesday's suicide bomb attack near the Mall Road underpass claimed seven lives and caused injury to many more.Twenty seriously injured persons are being provided medical aid at the Mayo and Services Hospital in Lahore. While remaining injured have been admitted in other hospitals of the city. Army commandoes have closed the gates of the college.
