Aubergine named kids most hated veggie

Aubergine has replaced sprouts as the vegetable children hate the most, according to a new survey.

London, March 30 : Aubergine has replaced sprouts as the vegetable children hate the most, according to a new survey.

The poll of 2,300 kids by Heinz found that some 39 per cent dislike the dark vegetable - two per cent more than sprouts.

The third most hated veggie is celeriac at 32 per cent, followed by cabbage and mange tout.

Carrots emerged as kids' favourite vegetable in the poll, suggesting that they now prefer traditional greens to modern trendy varieties.

The poll also showed that seven in ten kids hide veggies around the house and more than a third complain of a tummy-ache to escape them.

One in three parents lie about what's on a plate while others try to hide veggies under a thick layer of cheese sauce, the poll found.

"Getting kids to eat vegetables is a daunting task adding extra stress," the Mirror quoted Dan Winslet from Heinz, as saying.
