Pakistan Peoples Party To announce its Prime Ministerial candidate on March 6

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is likely to announce its Prime Ministerial candidate at the National Assembly parliamentary party meeting on March 6.

Islamabad, Mar 3 : Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is likely to announce its Prime Ministerial candidate at the National Assembly parliamentary party meeting on March 6.

PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari has called the meeting at Zardari House.

According to the Daily Times sources the meeting is likely to approve the PPP Central Executive Committee's (CEC) nominee for the Prime Minister's office before its formal declaration.

Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Yousaf Raza Gillani and Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar are four names that the party is considering for the office of the Prime Minister.

The PPP meeting is also considered important, as the Government is likely to announce the date of National Assembly session by March 6, which makes it necessary for the party to nominate the name for the new Prime Minister.

A party leader said Amin Fahim is no longer the front-runner for the post of Prime Minister due to various reasons. One of the three Punjabi candidates are likely be nominated.

PPP vice chairman Gillani has denied interest in the PM's office, while Qureshi and Mukhtar said they would follow the party's command.

According to sources the Central Executive Committee of the PPP has finalised the names of its parliamentary leaders in the National Assembly and provincial assemblies. But they would be made public at an appropriate time after proper consultations with allied political parties.

An independent member of Punjab Assembly, Rauf Khalid, has announced his wish to join the PPP during a meeting with Zardari.
