Dr AQ Khans wife condemns leakage of medical reports claiming he is fit

Pakistans detained nuclear scientist Dr AQ Khans wife Henny Khan has expressed surprise and unhappiness at his husbands medical reports being leaked to the media before the family could know about the reports.

Islamabad, Mar 29 : Pakistan's detained nuclear scientist Dr AQ Khan's wife Henny Khan has expressed surprise and unhappiness at his husband's medical reports being leaked to the media before the family could know about the reports.

The medical reports had suggested that he was medically fit.

Khan's family members are not ready to believe in reports suggesting that Dr Khan was medically fit as they think in the past such false reports were issued just to silence the voices who were challenging government's claim of keeping the nuclear scientist under detention which actually caused his ill health.

Henny angrily lashed out at the government for secretly releasing the medical reports of her ailing husband to the media, saying: "My faith in authorities no longer exists".

"On reading the paper this morning I was surprised to see a news item stating that hospital sources had confirmed the report that Dr Khan was found medically fit. Do you not agree with me that it is rather strange that these very same reports have not yet been discussed with us? Our GP visited us yesterday, and he too had not been informed of any results," The News quoted her as saying.

She added: "The very fact that they claim he is medically fit makes me suspicious, since in the past too they have classified certain conditions as minor while in reality they had the potential of being life threatening. My faith in authorities no longer exists".

The family has developed its own suspicions on the basis of past track record of government claims about his condition which turned out to be false.

The family once again believes that the same exercise of keeping them dark about the health of Dr Khan was being repeated.

She wondered that how could the doctors who examined Dr Khan issue any report to the media without first consulting the family of the patient.
