The Sindh chapter of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has condemned the recent death of an Indian fisherman in the Malir District Jail hospital in Karachi.

Karachi, March 27 : The Sindh chapter of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has condemned the recent death of an Indian fisherman in the Malir District Jail hospital in Karachi.

It also demanded an impartial investigation into the incident.

Referring to the death of Lakshman (40), one of the 431 Indian fishermen languishing in the jail, Commission vice-chairperson Zohra Yusuf urged the Sindh government to order a high-level inquiry into the incident.

She also called for taking measures to prevent similar recurrences in the future, reported the Dawn.

The HRCP also urged the federal government to complete the legal formalities and coordinate efforts with the Indian High Commission for the release and repatriation of all Indian fishermen languishing in the Malir District Jail.
