Musharraf wont move Supreme Court on sacked judges restoration: Pak AG

Pakistans Attorney General Malik Muhammad Qayyum said President Pervez Musharraf has no intention of filing a reference with the Supreme Court against the restoration of judges sacked on November 3, 2007.

Islamabad, Mar 26 : Pakistan's Attorney General Malik Muhammad Qayyum said President Pervez Musharraf has no intention of filing a reference with the Supreme Court against the restoration of judges sacked on November 3, 2007.

Qayyum said Musharraf would neither resign nor file any reference against the judges' restoration.

Qayyum said that he too had not yet decided on quitting his office, rejecting media reports that he would be resigning within 36 hours.

"I will quit only on the call of my conscience," he said.

According to the Daily Times, Qayyum had been claiming that Musharraf would move the Supreme Court against the judges' restoration.

A constitutional petition, filed by Moulvi Iqbal Haider, against the possible restoration of the sacked judges and the Murree Declaration is also pending with the apex court.

The petitioner appealed to the court to declare the Pakistan Parliament incompetent to change any verdict of the Supreme Court with a resolution on an Act passed with a simple majority.

The detention of the sacked judges was ended on the orders of Prime Minister-designate Makhdoom Yousuf Raza Gillani on Monday.
