London, Mar 25 : Times sure have changed for Robin Hood's town Nottingham, for far from being one of the safest places in the UK, it's a treat for burglars.

Robin Hood's home city, Nottingham is the worst in burglaries, according to a survey.

The survey showed that house raids in crime-ravaged city were 63 per cent above the national average.

The East Midlands metropolis is already known as Gun City because of its grim record on shootings.

The second riskiest place for break-ins was London, followed by Bristol, Stockport and Leeds.

Whereas, Guildford, Surrey were rated the safest with a rate 82 per cent below average.

Dundee, Norwich, Swindon and Bath also had low levels of burglary.

The survey was based on tens of thousands of household theft claims made over the past four years by customers of the Endsleigh insurance firm.

Spokeswoman Rhiannon Harris said the general trend was down, with domestic burglaries falling by 59 per cent between 1995 and 2007.

"The fact remains some towns and cities represent a greater risk than others," The Sun quoted her, as saying.
