Congratulating new Pakistani Premier Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on his assumption of office, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Tuesday offered his full support to him.

London, Mar 25 : Congratulating new Pakistani Premier Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on his assumption of office, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Tuesday offered his "full support" to him.

Gilani was sworn in earlier in the day by President Pervez Musharraf.

"I congratulate him and look forward to working closely with him on our shared agenda," Brown said in a statement released by his Downing Street office.

"The new government will face many challenges and the UK stands ready to assist Gilani and his government in meeting them," the Dawn quoted him, as saying.
