At least sixty militants belonging to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) were killed and six army soldiers were killed in separate incidents since Saturday, claims the Sri Lankan army.

Colombo, Mar 23 : At least sixty militants belonging to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) were killed and six army soldiers were killed in separate incidents since Saturday, claims the Sri Lankan army.

According to the Media Centre for National Security of Sri Lanka, 25 Tamil Tigers were killed and 25 others were injured in the northwestern district of Mannar.

At least 28 LTTE rebels were killed in other beleaguered areas of Vavuniya and Weli-Oya.

In Muhamalai, seven LTTE cadres were killed by the army, said sources.

The centre also stated that six soldiers were killed and 20 others were injured in separate incidents.
