Brit couple names kids after mythical gods

People usually flick through an A to Z of baby names to find the perfect name for their kids - but Tony and Elaine Romaeo picked up books on history and mythology to settle on monikers for their six kids.

London, March 23 : People usually flick through an A to Z of baby names to find the perfect name for their kids - but Tony and Elaine Romaeo picked up books on history and mythology to settle on monikers for their six kids.

The couple's first son was named after the world's most famous lovers - Romeo Casanova Valentino Romaeo.

But it did not stop there and Romeo, 12, is big brother to Venus Valentine, 11, Angel Aphrodite, 10, Isis Ise, three, and Achilles Spartacus Mars, two, who were all named after Roman, Greek and Egyptian mythological characters.

The family, from Leckwith Mews, Canton, Cardiff, will also be adding to their numbers in five weeks, when Elaine and Tony have their third son Caesar Augustus Constantine, named after a trio of Roman emperors.

"There's enough boring normality in the world so instead of getting an A-Z of baby names, I bought some history books," The Sun quoted Elaine, as saying.

"It's got to be better than names like Jack, Oliver and Daniel - which are OK, but a bit too popular for us," she added.

Tony admitted there were raised eyebrows when the older kids started school.

However, the businessman said: "We've told the children what their names mean and they love them."
