MQM withdraws its PM candidate in favour of PPP

Pakistan President Pervez Musharrafs loyalist in National Assembly, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), has withdrawn its Prime Ministerial candidate Farooq Sattar in favour of the Pakistan Peoples Partys (PPP) candidate.

Karachi, Mar 22 : Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's loyalist in National Assembly, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), has withdrawn its Prime Ministerial candidate Farooq Sattar in favour of the Pakistan People's Party's (PPP) candidate.

Sources, however, said that the formal announcement would be taken only after consultations with Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leadership.

According to The News, the MQM took this decision after its Coordination Committee meeting in Karachi and London.

PPP co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has been informed of the decision and the MQM hopes that the PPP will reciprocate the gesture politically in the future.
