Yousuf likely to get permission to join IPL on March 29

Lahore, Mar 20: Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf could get the permission on March 29 to join in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after a final hearing of his case by the Mumbai-based arbitration court.

Lahore, Mar 20: Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf could get the permission on March 29 to join in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after a final hearing of his case by the Mumbai-based arbitration court.

Yousuf had initially signed up for the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), after being dropped from the Pakistan squad for the World Twenty20 Championship.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), however, convinced him renege on his contract and luring him back with the promise of an IPL contract.

The ICL took the matter to an arbitration court, claiming Yousuf had already signed up and his contract prevented him from playing in any rival league.

"The PCB is fully defending Yousuf's decision to play in the IPL," PCB Chairman Nasim Ashraf said.

"We have lawyers in India handling the matter and a legal representative from the board has also been there at the hearings. A final decision is now expected on March 29," The Dawn quoted Ashraf, as saying.
