Islamabad, Mar.18 : Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Zardari has said that the days of dictatorship in Pakistan are over, and "We, with the support and help of the people of Pakistan, have ensured that democracy is on track."
Interacting with the media after a joint parliamentary parties' meeting of the would-be coalition government, the Daily Times quoted Zardari as saying that the coalition partners would work for the strengthening of democracy and the supremacy of the parliament.
Endorsing this move, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief and former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the country's newly elected lawmakers have rejected all "extra-constitutional" measures that were taken before and after the declaration of emergency on November 3.
"We do not accept extra-constitutional steps and have rejected the PCO (Provisional Constitutional Order)," he told reporters.
Replying to a question on whether President Musharraf would be impeached, he said the president should make a timely decision to avert such a move.
He said the new government would take decisions without being influenced from abroad.
