Balloons carrying £6k diamond ring vanish into thin air!

It seemed a perfect way to propose to the love of your life with a 6000 pounds diamond ring, till fate came in between and the ring vanished into thin air.

London, Mar 16 :It seemed a perfect way to propose to the love of your life with a 6000 pounds diamond ring, till fate came in between and the ring vanished into thin air.

Instead of simply dropping to one knee before his love, 28-year-old Lefkos Hajji told a florist to put the engagement ring he bought for his girlfriend Leanne, 26, in a silver helium balloon.

Unfortunately his plans backfired spectacularly as soon as he left the flower store, for the balloons blew away - taking the ring with them.

Hajji, from Hackney, London, tried his level best to pursue the balloons for two hours in his car across London before giving them up as lost.

"I couldn't believe it. I just watched as it went further and further into the air," the Telegraph quoted him, as saying.

"I felt like such a plonker. It cost a fortune and I knew my girlfriend would kill me.

"I though I would give Leanne a pin so I could literally pop the question," he added.

While Hajji hopes the ring will still turn up, his girlfriend, as he suspected, was apparently less than impressed.

Florist Helen Savva, of Cockfosters, London, said: "I thought he was taking a risk. I said, 'I hope you hold onto it'."
