After Islamabad restaurant blast, US advises its nationals to observe caution

The United States Embassy in Islamabad has advised the Americans in Pakistan to observe caution following a bomb blast at an Italian restaurant in Islamabad in which one of its employee was killed.

Islamabad, Mar 16 : The United States Embassy in Islamabad has advised the Americans in Pakistan to observe caution following a bomb blast at an Italian restaurant in Islamabad in which one of its employee was killed.

The bomb exploded at around 8:40 p.m. Pakistan time in the backyard lawn of the "Luna Caprese" restaurant in Islamabad where approximately twenty-five persons were dining, who were mostly foreigners.

A Turkish nurse identified as Ellane and 10 others were killed in the blast. Ellane was an employ of the US Embassy. Seven Americans, a Canadian, a Somalian, a Japanese and two Pakistanis were injured in the incident.

In an advice the embassy has urged the Americans "to avoid areas where Westerners are known to congregate and to maintain a low profile."

"American citizens should stay alert, be aware of their surroundings, reduce travel to a minimum, and act self-defensively at all times," the embassy cautioned.

Meanwhile, a special investigation team has been formed by the Pakistan Government to probe into the bomb blast.

The senior security official said five to six kilograms of explosives with pellets and ball bearings were used in the blasts, a trademark of pro-Taliban militants, The News reported.

The attack is expected to put pressure on the incoming government in the country.
