Pushy paparazzi blocked Di cops

The cops who came to the rescue of Princess Diana following the fatal car crash in Paris were blocked by the aggressive paparazzi at the scene, the inquest into her death has heard.

London, March 13 : The cops who came to the rescue of Princess Diana following the fatal car crash in Paris were blocked by the aggressive paparazzi at the scene, the inquest into her death has heard.

Eyewitness Clifford Goorovadoo, a chauffeur who had parked his vehicle near the Alma tunnel crash spot, told the jury that the pushy journalists prevented police officers from reaching the spot where Diana was fighting for her life.

"When the first police officers arrived the journalists would not let them through. They were pushing," The Sun quoted Goorovadoo, as saying.

Goorovadoo later singled out photographer David Odekerken from a picture line-up.

He told police: "He was taking photographs of the victims and the vehicle. He was one of those who ran away when the police arrived. He therefore cannot be one of those photographers who hindered the police."

He also claimed that he saw a motorcycle chasing the Mercedes carrying Diana and her lover Dodi al Fayed on August 31 1997.

In a statement read at London's High Court, Goorovadoo revealed that the pillion passenger was taking photographs just before the crash.

However, he was not sure if a flashgun was used.
