Koirala to Prachanda: Stop anarchic activities of Maoist youth

Nepal Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala today urged CPN-Maoist Chairman Prachanda to stop Maoist youth affiliated to the Young Communist League (YCL) from carrying out anarchic activities immediately.

Kathmandu, Mar.12 : Nepal Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala today urged CPN-Maoist Chairman Prachanda to stop Maoist youth affiliated to the Young Communist League (YCL) from carrying out anarchic activities immediately.

During a meeting between PM Koirala and Maoist second-in-command Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai held at the PM's official residence at Baluwatar this morning, Koirala asked Bhattarai to tame the YCL and reminded him of the attacks carried out by them.

According to a Kantipur report, the octogenarian leader expressed his concern over the YCL attack on electoral campaigns at different parties in some of the Terai districts at a time when the election atmosphere is improving.

On Tuesday, Koirala told reporters in his hometown Biratnagar that he would discuss the excesses carried out by the YCL with Prachanda at the earliest.

Koirala and Dr Bhattarai also discussed on the immediate implementation of the 23-point agreement forged among the seven parties that form the ruling coalition.

Koirala expressed his commitment to provide relief to the family of the martyrs in a few days as per the 23-point agreement.

The Prime Minister also held separate consultations with the British and US Ambassadors to Nepal.
