Birds chicks reared in £1m nest!

Having one million pounds may be a pipe dream for many people, but a protected bird species was perhaps fortunate enough to be accorded such an expensive service by Brit government authorities.

London, March 12 : Having one million pounds may be a pipe dream for many people, but a protected bird species was perhaps fortunate enough to be accorded such an expensive service by Brit government authorities.

The little ringed plover cost a council 1.2million pounds after it decided to rear its chicks on the site of a massive road improvement scheme.

Work had to stop for seven months while the bird raised its young.

The delay caused the 12million pounds link road scheme on the A612 in Gedling, Notts to go over budget by 10 per cent.

"It's an enormous amount," The Mirror quoted County councillor Bruce Laughton as saying.

Erin McDaid of Notts Wildlife Trust, however, said: "We're pleased steps were taken to ensure the bird was able to nest."
