Melbourne, Mar 12 : Aussies are surely trying real hard to turn back the aging clock, for according to a research, the citizens of the country have splashed out 300 million dollars on botox, face-plumping and other non-surgical procedures in 2007.

Statistics, which are to be released at the annual cosmetic medicine conference on Mar 13, indicate 30 per cent growth in the industry last year.

The Cosmetic Physicians Society of Australasia (CPSA) said that the biggest growth was seen in uptake of anti-wrinkle treatments, predominantly botulinum toxin injections.

CPSA president Dr Mary Dingley said the non-invasive and minimally invasive area is one of the fastest growing segments in the cosmetic medicine industry, reports News.com.au.She said that the increase was not seen in women alone.

Physicians reported a 10 to 20 per cent increase in male clients last year, with most seeking botox, acne-scarring treatments and facial vein surgery.

The figures will be released at the annual CPSA conference on the Gold Coast, where the latest Australian and US trends in facial and body cosmetic procedures will be showcased.
