Prachanda seeks public apology from Nepali Congress

Maoist chairman Prachanda has said that those who had declared his party a terrorist organisation in the past should apologise before going to the polls.

Kathmandu, Mar.11 : Maoist chairman Prachanda has said that those who had declared his party a terrorist organisation in the past should apologise before going to the polls.

Addressing a mass gathering here on Tuesday, Prachanda hinting at Nepali Congress (NC), said those who termed his party as terrorist for demanding a Constituent Assembly election, must seek public apology before participating in the polls.

Alleging that the international power players are still conspiring against the polls, NepalNews quoted Prachanda as saying that such powers were making efforts to force Maoists to take up arms again.

Meanwhile, the general secretary of Unified Marxist Leninist (UML), Madhav Kumar Nepal, has ridiculed the Maoists for campaigning to make Prachanda the president of the country.

"The entire country is geared to make new constitution through the Constituent Assembly, but they (Maoist) are busy making him president of the wall," Nepal said referring to spate of wall painting by Maoists projecting Prachanda as first president of republican Nepal.

"They (Maoists) should know that the CA is not about making anyone president. It is about writing a new constitution," Nepal said, addressing an election rally in Santapur of Rautahat District on Monday.
