Personal profile on MySpace, Facebook is new CV

Employers are looking at popular online social networking sites rather than traditional CVs to get a large amount of personal and professional information about job applicants.

London, Mar 11 : Employers are looking at popular online social networking sites rather than traditional CVs to get a large amount of personal and professional information about job applicants.

According to expert Margot Katz, personal profiles on sites such as Facebook and MySpace give a clearer picture of an individual's personality.

Some new employees fail in their jobs due to personality and behaviour clashes and Margot said these are the drawbacks of traditional CVs, which do not provide information about the person's character.

Now, Margot is encouraging the use of web pages for showing the job applicants' academic and work achievements as well as their hobbies or sporting triumphs.

"Those who use their social network profile as an extension to their application could be at a huge advantage," The Sun quoted Margot, as saying.
