Prince William to serve on Royal Navy warship later this year

While Prince Harry has been removed from Afghanistan after threats from Talibani leaders, reports now suggest that his elder brother William is set to serve on the front line aboard a Royal Navy warship.

London, March 1 : While Prince Harry has been removed from Afghanistan after threats from Talibani leaders, reports now suggest that his elder brother William is set to serve on the front line aboard a Royal Navy warship.

According to reports, it is at William's own instance that detailed plans are being drawn up for him to fight for his country.

The 25-year-old Army officer will be commissioned into the Navy, and serve on a frigate or destroyer in one of the world's trouble spots for at least 30 days later this year.

William's service in the Navy will him an operational medal, similar to the one his younger brother Harry will be given for his 10 weeks fighting the Taliban.

Sources have revealed that William will have the lowest officer's rank of Sub-Lieutenant when he joins the Navy, and that he will be given the same treatment as other junior officers.

"It's our intention to give Prince William as full a taste of life in the Royal Navy as possible - which may include time on board a warship. It's the Ministry of Defence's policy not to discuss details of any individual's deployment or service," British tabloid The Sun quoted a Navy spokesman as saying.

The paper claims to having in its possession exact details of where and when Navy top brass are considering sending William, but it has decided not to reveal key information to protect the young Royal and his sailor comrades.
