Custard pie throwing world championship rakes in funds for charities

Raising funds has never been so much fun before - what with people dashing custard pies at each other to help charities in the world custard pie throwing championships.

London, June 20 : Raising funds has never been so much fun before - what with people dashing custard pies at each other to help charities in the world custard pie throwing championships.

This innovative charity event was organised on Maidstone, Kent to raise money for local charities in the 41st world custard pie throwing championships, reports The Mirror.

Inspired by Charlie Chaplin comedy 'Behind the Screen', Councillor Mike Fitzgerald founded the championships to raise money to build a village hall through such events.

The event saw four person teams, decked in fancy dress outfits, contesting their pie-flinging abilities for taking home the much-coveted trophy home. And those who took a head shot were awarded extra points.

And after the cluttered-custard day, radio station KMFM won the contest by beating 'We don't like Asparagus' in the final.
