GT Solar Names Fusen E. Chen, Ph.D., and J. Michal Conaway to Board of Directors

GT Solar International, a global provider of specialized equipment and technology for the solar power industry, announced that Fusen E. Chen, Ph.D., and J. Michal Conaway have joined its Board of Directors. With these additions, the Board is now comprised of six members.

"Dr. Chen and Mr. Conaway each offer a significant amount of specialized experience that will be valuable to our company as we further focus on increasing our market share and optimizing our financial performance," said J. Fusen E. Chen, Ph.D., 49, is the executive vice president and chief technology officer for Novellus Systems, Inc., a provider of advanced process equipment for the semiconductor industry. In his current position, Dr. Chen is responsible for setting the company's technology strategy and direction, and serves as its primary executive interface with customers in Asia. Prior to joining Novellus, Dr. Chen spent 10 years at Applied Materials, where he most recently worked as the group vice president and general manager for the Copper Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) and Interconnect Product Business Group. Dr. Chen is a director of Electroglas, Inc. He holds more than 60 patents and has authored over 50 technical publications.

J. Michal Conaway, 59, is the founder and chief executive officer of Peregrine Group, LLC, an executive consulting firm, and has been providing consulting services since 2000. Prior to 2000, Mr. Conaway held various management and executive positions, including serving as chief financial officer of Fluor Corporation, an engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services provider. He serves as a director of Quanta Services, Inc. and Cherokee International Corporation, as well as a director of Elgin National Industries, Inc. and Enterra Holdings Ltd., both of which are privately held companies. Mr. Conaway holds a master's degree in business administration and is a certified public accountant.
