Counsel claims bugging devices still in Dr Khans house

Pakistan nuclear scientist Dr AQ Khans counsel has claimed that bugging devises were still being installed in his clients house, and demanded that he should be released as soon as possible from the four-year-long house arrest.

Islamabad, July 15 : Pakistan nuclear scientist Dr AQ Khan's counsel has claimed that bugging devises were still being installed in his client's house, and demanded that he should be released as soon as possible from the four-year-long house arrest.

Advocate Iqbal Jaffrey urged the federal government to amicably resolve Dr Khan's issue, "otherwise several dignitaries would be exposed" and would open up a Pandora's Box.

He urged the government to immediately release Dr Khan from house arrest, reported the Dawn.

"I have sent a letter to SPD (Strategic Plan Division) chief Gen Khalid Kidwai. I will provide copies of this letter to media. Gen Kidwai cannot reject the points I have raised in the letter. Bugging device are still installed in Dr A. Q. Khan residence and these be removed immediately," the paper quoted him as saying.

The lawyer added: "I had filed application in the court that President Pervez Musharraf and Adviser to PM on Interior Rehman Malik should also be made respondent so that the factual position could come to light."

"I would request the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court that I along with attorney general be heard in chamber so that any amicable solution to this issue is found," he said, and added that he had gone to high court and the IHC chief justice had ordered the law ministry to file a report in the court on the questions raised by him and a copy be sent to him in advance.
