Ronaldo could be out of action for 12 weeks

Manchester United, who thought that their Portuguese wing wizard Cristiano Ronaldo was facing only a six-week lay-off, have been devastated after the ace striker revealed that he will be out of action for up to 12 weeks.

London, July 11 : Manchester United, who thought that their Portuguese wing wizard Cristiano Ronaldo was facing only a six-week lay-off, have been devastated after the ace striker revealed that he will be out of action for up to 12 weeks.

Ronaldo revealed his KO shock on Thursday, having had right ankle surgery on Monday.

He said: "It's confirmed I will be out of action for up to 12 weeks. But recovery is going well. I'm very optimistic and have been working with the Portugal team physio."

"I'm not in any pain. Things have been evolving quite well. I have to concentrate on my recovery. That is the most important thing. I'll be training with a ball in only two months," The Sun quoted Ronaldo, as saying.

Ronaldo will "earn" an estimated 2million pounds while out of action, as his Manchester United colleagues begin their defence of the Premier League title.

Ronaldo will now enjoy a 12-week love-in with Nereida, having already spent several weeks since Euro 2008 relaxing with her on holiday.
