Islamabad, Jan 7 : The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has contacted the United Nations with a request to conduct the investigation of Benazir Bhutto's assassination.

The PPP formally contacted Fabrice Aidan, an assistant to the special envoy to the United Nations Secretary-General, with the request.

"We have contacted Aidan who took charge of the UN Commission that investigated Rafiq Hariri's murder in Lebanon. I am in touch with him," the Daily Times quoted PPP Central Leader Begum Abida Hussain, as saying.

She also said, "We will present our case before the UN with full preparation. Our contact with Aidan is a step towards this end."

She further added that Benazir Bhutto's lawyer Farooq H Naik would formally submit the PPP request for investigation into Bhutto's assassination with the UN secretary-general at Washington.
