At least three people, including the Principal of a school were killed when a bus carrying over 80 students and teachers to a picnic spot near Kathmandu veered off the road and crashed.
Kathmandu, Jan 6 : At least three people, including the Principal of a school were killed when a bus carrying over 80 students and teachers to a picnic spot near Kathmandu veered off the road and crashed.
Over three dozens others were injured in the accident that took place at Okharpauwa that lies between Kathmandu and Nuwakot. The bus was on its way to Kakani, a popular picnic destination.
The death toll is expected to rise and the rescue operation is on.
The injured are being treated at various hospitals around the capital that include the Teaching Hospital, Bir Hospital, Siddhartha Hospital and Model Hospital.
The victims belong to the Academy of Secret Heart English School, and include the Principal of the school, Sushila Shakya.
The other victims have been identified as Mohan Lugeli and Pramila Rai, who studied in the school.
The cause of the accident is not known. However, there are reports that the driver was in an inebriated state during the time of accident.
The police have refused to make any comments.
