Pak agencies term method of Benazirs treatment suspicious

Pakistans intelligence agencies have submitted a preliminary report to the authorities, terming the method of treatment given to Benazir Bhutto and the medical report after her death as suspicious.

Rawalpindi, Jan 4 : Pakistan's intelligence agencies have submitted a preliminary report to the authorities, terming the method of treatment given to Benazir Bhutto and the medical report after her death as suspicious.

The intelligence agencies indicated that a political figure, through an administrative officer of the PIMS, was behind the controversy created by the administration of the Rawalpindi General Hospital (RGH) over the cause of Benazir's death, sources said.

The PIMS officer remained with the surgeon and also arranged the controversial press conference of Dr Musaddaq, they added.

The agency report quoted the medical report by a team of surgeons as saying, "There is a significant difference between the diameter of the hook of sunroof and the head wound of Benazir."

A surgeon included in the team that took care of Benazir has disclosed that she sustained two bullet injuries and was handed over alive to under-training doctors when she was taken to the Rawalpindi General Hospital while top surgeons were already present in the hospital, The News quoted sources, as saying.

The surgeon who witnessed the shocking episode said, adding that Benazir expired during the 'external cardiac massage' and her pupils were dilated, they added.

"The surgeon, Dr Musaddaq Khan, later, opened her chest for 'internal cardiac massage' after giving her incision," the surgeon said, adding that there was a need to incise her chest after the dilation of her pupils.

The cause of the death was excessive bleeding and vascular injuries of the brain, he claimed. Dr Musaddaq Khan, when contacted for his comments said, "Don't tease me". He refused to say anything on record about the controversy.

Meanwhile, PPP sources claimed that Asif Zardari had recorded a video before the burial of Benazir, which showed Benazir's two wounds, would be produced before the foreign investigators.
