Senators of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Thursday reiterated their demand for a United Nations probe into the ex-premier Benazir Bhuttos assassination.
Islamabad, Jan 31 : Senators of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Thursday reiterated their demand for a United Nations probe into the ex-premier Benazir Bhutto's assassination.
Opposition leader Raza Rabbani opened a debate in the Senate on the condolence reference on Benazir's assassination and Jan Mohammad Jamali chaired the session.
Benazir was aware of threat to her life and she had aired her fears in the last days of her life, Rabbani told the Senate.
Rabbani went on to say that even though opponents termed her as a security risk, Benazir had sacrificed her life for principles and democracy.
On the Pakistan Government-led investigation into Benazir's murder, Rabbani said that the PPP did not accept this investigation and wanted a UN probe on par with Lebanese leader Rafiq Harriri's murder case, The News reported.
Ishaque Dar of the PML-N said the government should conduct UN probe into Benazir murder.
