At least twelve terrorists of the Liberation of Tamil Tigers Eelam (LTTE) were killed in the three separate operations conducted by Sri Lankan military troops in Kiribbanwewa, Vavuniya and Muhamalai areas on Saturday.

Jaffna/ Colombo, Jan 27 : At least twelve terrorists of the Liberation of Tamil Tigers Eelam (LTTE) were killed in the three separate operations conducted by Sri Lankan military troops in Kiribbanwewa, Vavuniya and Muhamalai areas on Saturday.

Large amount of explosives and ammunition, including 123 anti-personnel, 500 T56 ammunition and four Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) were recovered by the troops.

According to the Media Centre for National Security of Sri Lanka, the troops confirm that nine terrorists were killed in two separate attacks on the LTTE bunkers in Kiribbanwewa area, while three terrorists were killed in Muhamalai area.

According to media reports, at least one soldier was killed and one was injured in the confrontation with terrorists.
